ABOUT: Mario Bagella is a second generation winemaker. Mario's family has been growing grapes on Sardegena for over 75 years. His father was the first to start bottling wines from the family property in the early 80's. Their winery and vineyards are in the town of Sorso, in close proximity to the ocean. Sorso also means sip in Italian, so Mario decided to have some fun with the naming of this wine. His wines are good from the first sip to the last.

VINEYARD: The Bagella's farm roughly 12.5 acres in Sorso on land that overlooks the sea. Their vines are on average 80-90 years old. The age of the vines provides a complexity to the wines not seen in others from the area. Mario oversaw the recent conversion from conventional farming to organic. The soils are comprised of sand and clay. The Vermentino has a salinity to it that speaks to its place of origin.

WINEMAKING: Fermented without the use of commercial yeasts in stainless steel tanks with a short period of lees contact to increase mid-palate texture. The wine ages in steel tanks for 8-12 months before being bottled without fining or filtration.
