Grapes have been grown on Colle Petruccio, the hill that the winery gets its name from, for thousands of years. The hill is next to the Etruscan / Roman archaeological site Roselle which was an important ancient town up until the Middle Ages. After a career in law, Sandro Ruffo left his profession to pursue his childhood passion of wine making. Sandro's philosophy is to farm and make wine the same way it has been done on this hill for millennium.

VINEYARD:

Colle Petruccio farms 8 hectares of and olive trees. Located just outside of Grosseto in the Maremma region, the soils are known for being incredibly rocky which gives the grapes produced a unique strength and minerality. The view from the hill toward the Sea and the extraordinary Monte Agentario on the southern coast of Tuscany is truly breathtaking.

WINEMAKING:

Belmoro is spontaneously fermented in stainless steel for 20 days with native yeast and a small dose of SO2. After 8 months in stainless steel tanks, the wine is bottled unfinied & unfiltered. Colle Petruccio's mission with this wine is to produce Sangiovese that truly expresses the unique terrior and vintage. Therefore, the wine has no additional additives, interventions or manipulations.
