A. D. Beckham 'Aequalis' Amphora Chehalem Mountains
Producer: A.D. Beckham
Region: Oregon
Grapes: Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir
50% Pinot Noir and 50% Pinot Gris - fermented and aged in clay amphora. Clear pale ruby in color, with dusty strawberries and a hint of eucalyptus and tea on the nose. Warm summer strawberries, apricots and earth on the palate surrounded by baking spices and juicy acidity that pulls through to the finish. The Aequalis not Pinot noir or Pinot gris but a beautiful bright expression of both. The more we get to know this wine the more complex it becomes.
co-fermented on skins in amphora for 40 days, pressed and returned to amphora then bottled un-fined and un-filtered.

The wines produced under the A.D. Beckham label have fermented and aged primarily in Andrew’s hand-made clay amphorae. A convergence of passions – farming, ceramics, and winemaking, these wines are full of energy and texture while
aiming to purely represent the grapes that compose them. This label exemplifies the influence of thousands of years of human history making wine in clay vessels. For this label, we will occasionally work with other vineyards that share our farming philosophies in order to explore the expression of different grape varietals in Andrew’s Novum. All wines are fermented with native yeasts, are un-fined, and contain minimal added sulphites.
